About

I grew up on Top 40 music, old movies, Mad Magazine, video games, backyard kickball, and about a million TV commercials. I read everything I could get my hands on, loved art and design in all its forms, and was fascinated by the power of words and images.

That love of art and design led me to California College of the Arts, where I earned a BFA in time-based media, and eventually into a career as a Web Designer, then Creative Director. Over the years, I've expanded my range from UX/UI into brand development, marketing strategy, and campaign leadership, building and guiding teams that blend engaging copy with photography, illustration, animation, video, and sound. I'm as comfortable doing the hands-on work myself as I am leading the teams that bring it to life.

Before I became a designer, I waited tables and worked in retail, and those experiences never left me. Hospitality, I learned, is not just about service. It's about making people feel seen, understood, and taken care of. That philosophy shows up in everything I do, from the way I collaborate with colleagues and present to leadership, to the way I approach interface design with the goal of making every interaction as simple and intuitive as possible.

Good craftsmanship, clear communication, and authenticity matter to me, both in what I create and in how I engage with people. I've always believed that the most effective creative isn't the safest creative. The work that gets remembered surprises you, gives you something unexpected that immediately feels right. I've been doing this long enough to know what works, and I've been humbled enough to know there's always more to learn.

I'm based in Santa Rosa, California. If you have a creative challenge you'd like help with, I'd love to hear from you.

Fun Fact
When I was a kid, I invented two characters — a dog detective and his rabbit partner — and sometimes left my semi-finished comics around the house. My older brother Steve started finishing my incomplete stories as parodies (to annoy me, of course, as older brothers do), and over time, he developed them into something all his own. I eventually signed the rights over to him, and Sam and Max went on to become a LucasArts video game, a Saturday morning cartoon on Fox, and a cult phenomenon that still has devoted fans around the world. Not a bad journey for a couple of goofy characters a little kid left lying around the house.

Oh, Just One More Thing…
I’m a huge fan of the movie ‘Blade Runner,’ so I made this image as an homage.
